My cousin is having a baby within the next month and I’ve been trying to think of what she might like to receive as a new baby gift. Her baby shower seems to have supplied her with most of the essentials…car seat, bottles, blankets etc. I’m thrilled for her that she got so many baby staples, but now I’m faced with needing a baby gift, and want something special. Something that isn’t disposable plastic to be tossed away in a year or two. I started to think in terms of keepsakes. My cousin is very sentimental, great at remember who gave her what, and I know she will appreciate the idea that I gave her something personalized and meant to last.
I found myself online looking for gifts when I found what I was thinking about. I know that she does not have anything like it, and she’ll appreciate that I took time to find something special. I bought an Oneida Chateau silverware set. This set has a baby fork, baby spoon, and feeder spoon. The other side of the package has the pieces that progress to a child size set which includes a child fork, knife, and spoon. It has gentle scrolls with finely engraved flowers. It’s in a gift box, so it will be easy to wrap. I also bought the silver-plate child cup to go with it. It can be engraved, so once she names the baby, I’m going to run out and have it monogrammed with the baby’s initials. My cousin will love it. I know she will. It’s the personalized touches that make people feel special. This is a big event, so I want her to have something work keeping.
