We appear to treat father’s differently on their Special Day than we do mother’s on Ma’s Day. Maybe it is due to the fact we’re wired differently. Breakfast in bed, be it simply piping hot coffee served up with The NY Times, equates with that pastry and whipped-cream-topped strawberries that we asked for on our mommy-tray. I have discovered that men are seriously appreciative of any easy loving gesture made for them. Coffee, home made cards, poems, and engraved Father’s day gifts did more to get him going than any thing else we may have done. The home made card read : we did not forget you this year, dad.
But because fathers have hobbies and sports interests starting from one end of the range to the other, the day is celebrated with a myriad of activities. Are you looking for Father’s Day golf gift ideas? How about something to do with Fishing? Relaxing with coffee and a good book? On Pop’s Day, and everyday, we have to be more aware of the generous efforts the pas in our lives make on our behalf. We want to be aware of the sacrifices to their private time that they make on a once a day basis. That they have accountability issues which we may never entirely appreciate.
That they fight traffic on empty stomachs. And catch early morning planes on tiny sleep. The pas in our lives would probably travel to the ends of the earth for you and his kids, if they knew they’d be greeted by many pair of open arms on the other side of the front door. Let’s be optimistic that dads everywhere understand the unique role they play in our lives, in the lives of their youngsters, and in today’s culture at large. Let’s be optimistic that on Pop’s Day, pa’s everywhere felt special. That they know, deep down within, that their efforts on our behalf are completely recognized, actually appreciated, and very cherished.
